Information on Jodhpur and Jaisalmer Tour Packages

Jaisalmer - It haunts you for weeks after you return, this desert city of golden stands and strange spirits. It pulls at your heart-strings, beckons you, seduces you, making you want to go back again and again-this is Jaisalmer, often referred to as the desert jewel in Rajasthan's crown.

The capital of the eponymous Rajput state, in pre-independence India, for eight hundred years it remained a significant trading post for caravans and merchants that passed through the desert laden with silk and spices on their way from Africa and central Asia and is now forty miles away from Pakistan.

Jodhpur Jaisalmer Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Jaisalmer, Arrival in Jodhpur, drive through the desert and proceed for Jaisalmer.

Day 2 - Jaisalmer, Visit Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon ki Haveli, Gadsisar Sagar Lake, Tazia Tower.

Day 3 - Jodhpur, The Blue city as it is popularly known is built around the magnificent Mehrangarh fort which was built in 17th century.

Day 4 - Jodhpur, Visit all local tourist attractions in Jodhpur. Visit to local sightseeing of the old city and shopping areas in Jodhpur.

Jaisalmer still retains its exotic exclusivity, even though getting there is easier than in earlier days. Considering the state of most Indian roads, travelling from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer comes as a pleasant surprise. This is a well-maintained scarcely trafficked road across which bounds much of the wild life of North India-cinkara, deer, peacocks, wild sheep and nilgai, Scarcely has one recovered from surprise encounters with these gentle creatures when the sand begins to turn golden and suddenly out of nowhere arises a magnificent stone structure glimmering in the afternoon sun-the Jaisalmer fort.

Perched on a solitary hill, the fort with all its elements in the same shade if yellow stone rises in stark relief against the clear blue sky. Spellbound by the sheer aesthetics of the contrasting blue sky, and yellow stone, you enter the city. Magnificent carved havelis interspersed with massive hoardings spoil the picture perfect scene just a little. But it is fairly easy to forget the stamp of tourism, for at every turn on the street are glimpses of an older, fiercer way of life, a life made harder and more vital by its remote and austere setting.

At dusk, Jaisalmer transforms itself and become magic. The chatter of hawkers comes abruptly to an end, people start talking in whispers, long mysterious shadows fall on stone walls. The night becomes mystical, making you believe that there must be spirits and sprites following ancient rites and indulging in the occult somewhere.

A poet someday will capture Jaisalmer, the serenity of the sands, the magnificence of the architecture, the sheer unspoilt beauty of Jaisalmer into immortal verse. Till them Jaisalmer remains a mystery in stone and stand that is teased by the spirits of the past.

Jaisalmer Tours also can include excursions around Jasisalmer city, such as a visit to the Sam dunes or the Oasis which are located in the middle of the desert and the visits to the small villages near the border areas. Swan Tours can customize Jaisalmer tour Packages that include transport, Hotel Booking, Experiences at the most competitive prices.
