  • Day One of Shimla Tour Packages

    Delhi – Shimla

    Meet our representative at Delhi Railway station and drive to Shimla . The distance from Delhi to Shimla is approximately 400 Kms , The drive is through the beautiful city of Chandigarh , Also enroute is Pinjore gardens and a small hill station of Parwanoo ( One can experience a cable car ride through the mountains).

    Shimla is a classic hill station with stunning views of the Himalayas and other tourist attractions. On arrival at Shimla, check into the hotel. In the evening you can explore the local market area in the mall road , Mall road - which is the most popular spot both with the locals and the tourists has multiple eating options , shops selling local handicrafts as well as International brands . Both Families as well as Honeymoon couples can be seen enjoying the area around Mall Road.

  • Day Two of Shimla Tour Packages

    After breakfast proceed for a local sightseeing in and around Shimla, Visit the Viceregal lodge - where the Britishers signed the declaration of Independence, Annadale- a very old golf course and the Jakhu Temple.

    Around Shimla - Kufri is an amazing tourist destination in Himachal ideally located at an altitude of 2622 meters. There is a wide array of tourist places and adventure sports available in Kufri for tourist. . Further proceed for Chail – 44 km from Shimla and 45 km from Solan. The Chail Palace is well known for its architecture, the palace was built as summer retreat by the Maharaja of Patiala during the British Raj, on the land allotted to him by the British for former's assistance in the Anglo-Nepalese War. The cricket ground and a polo ground which is there at an altitude of 2,250 meter were owned by erstwhile royal family of Patiala. It is the world's highest cricket ground. Chail is also considered as the hiker's paradise. The area is away from the bustling life of the state capital Shimla. In 1891, Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala incurred the rage of Lord Kitchener. It led to the restriction of his entry in the Indian summer capital, Shimla. This incensed the Maharaja and he vowed to build a new summer retreat for himself. So he rebuilt the place (Chail) as per his requirements.

Shimla Accessibility

By Air

One of the quickest ways of getting into Shimla can also be one of the most frustrating, due generally to uncertain weather conditions of the mountains. Indian Airlines connect Shimla to Delhi, Chandigarh and Kullu. The flight takes one hour from Delhi to Shimla and 30 minutes from Shimla to Kullu or Chandigarh. During the summer, additional flights/airlines also operate on the route. Therefore, it is best to check on latest situation before planning a trip. Shimla airpot at Jubbarhatti (23 km from downtown) was forged by chopping off the top of a hill.

By Rail

The railway is one of the more interesting access options to Shimla. The city being one of the few in India still operating the narrow-gauge railway line with trains made up of tiny (comparatively) carriages and engine, which are often called the toy trains, chugging along the mountain slopes, through forests and gullies, ravines and fields.Kalka, the nearest broad-gauge railhead, is connected to many parts of the country with express and super-fast trains. The best connection are however, from Delhi: 2011 (Dep. 7.40 am) and 2005 (Dep. 5.15 pm) Shatabdi Expresses, an all air-conditioned super-fast train, 4095 Himalayan Queen Express (d. 0610 hr. a. 1130 hr), and 2311 vide convenient options.

Kalka-Shimla Narrow Gauge Link

From Kalka starts the mountainous stretch and the Rail journey is a delightful experience. The Northern Railways has enhanced these pleasures by introducing special trains with attention to interests of different styles of passengers ( Family , Honeymoon , Group travel package).

Shivalik Deluxe Express (Nos. 241/242), a luxury train, connects with the Howrah-Kalka Mail and cover the 97 km distance of a non-stop journey (except for a technical halt at Barog) in 4120 all ergonomically designed, cushioned and reversible seats in fully carpeted and curtained compartments, free catering on journey, free newspaper, tea & biscuits at staring station i.e. Kalka or Shimla, wider windows for enjoyment of scenic beauty, cabins for couples, music system microphone and alarm bell system for communication with guard/ driver, etc.

Reaching Shimla By Road

On National Highway no. 22, Shimla is connected to all parts of the Northern Region and the state with a wide and good network of roads. The section of national highway between Kalka and Shimla is a wide two-lane single carriageway and though passing through towns and villages allows for good speed and the distance of 87 km can easily be covered in about two hours.

PARWANOO is the crossing point on the Haryana-Himachal border. Parwanoo is a pulsating industrial town.

Timber Trail: A cable car takes you to the top of a hill where there is a children's park, restaurant and hotel.

Arrival at Shimla

Circular Road, earlier known as Cart Road, runs around the city. Left turn at Vicatory Tunnel for the following places in a clockwise direction: Kaithu, Ice Skating Rink area, Lakkad Bazaar, Kelston, IG (Snowdon) Hospital, Sanjauli, St Bedes College, Chhota Shimla, Khalini (diversion to New Shimla), St Edwards School, Benmore, Hotel Holiday Home, Lifts, ISBT and Victory Tunnel. Heavy vehicles including in-coming buses move only in the clockwise direction.

If arriving by bus, get off at the Skating Rink for a 10-minute walk to the Mall with porters, at Auckland House for Lakkad Bazaar and Kelston, at Sanjaulior the Lifts for the opposite side of the Mall. The lifts are convenient to take you from Cart Road to the Mall. They operate from 7am to 10pm (Summer) and charge Rs. 5 per head per one way trip.

If arriving by your own vehicle, remember the traffic restrictions. Most roads leading upto the Mall are restricted to entry-with-permit-only. Car owners are advised to be careful and look out for signboards or confirm with the traffic police before driving into the main city.

Excursions which can be added to Shimla Tour Package

Mashobra: 12 kms . A thickly wooded suburb. A pedestrian track leads down to the glade of Sipur. Trek possible to Shali Peak, highest in the area. Craignano, former estate of an Itatian confectioner, and the fruit research station, are situated here at 2,149 m.

Naldehra: 23 kms. with log huts and regular rooms, Himachal Tourism runs Hotel Golf Glage here. There is a cedar forest, picnic grounds and a 9-hole golf course.

Tattapani: 28 kms from Naldehra. Hot sulphur springs. One can drive on to the charming countryside near karsog.

Fagu: 22 kms from Shimla on NH22. This hamlet is an artist's delight with its majestic view of the Choor Dhar Peak and the Inner Himalayas.

Narkanda: 64 kms, 2700 m. On NH 22. With remarkable views, spruce forests and a choice of ski runs, Narkanda is a popular resort. For the adventurous there is a though 3 km trek upto Hatu Peak, named after the wish-fulfilling Hateshwari Mata Temple from where one can see a large part of the Inner Himalayan range.

Kufri: 16 kms, 2510 m. On NH 22. An enjoyable walk leads to Mahasu Peak. With woods around, it has ski slopes and offers panoramic views.
